Two Years In Heaven

I sit here on this beautiful Sunday morning reminiscing.  It's Mother's Day much like Mother's Day last year.  My life has a void in it, in which no one can fill.

My Mamma, Mrs. Hazel Howard Ray was carried to her Heavenly home two years ago on May 2, 2011 by an Angelic Hoist.
Oh, BTW, that was mine and Cathy's 33rd wedding anniversary. You no, Jesus gave His life on the Cross at 33 years old.

Cathy and I are painting the interior of Mamma's house with GREAT anticipation and hopes of making it our home.

I tell you one thing that you can hang your hat on, and that is, life changes drastically when your parents are no longer at the home place.

"Mamma, your baby misses you sorely and look forward to seeing you again, just inside the Gate."

Roger Hattaway & His Grand Babies

I was standing at Roger's hope chest yesterday, looking at the old house that he left behind for us to lament over. His sweet, precious bride of 43 years and my sister, partner in crime, Brenda pointed out her Bible placed in beside him.

She commented on how he LOVED to read those scared Words that filled that Old Book. She also informed me that it also contained some pictures of Roger and his babies.

Well, being the inquisitive person that I am, I found myself thumbing through the pages of that Old Book. Sure enough, I found a few pictures of Roger and his babies.

They say that a picture is worth a thousands words. I think I will post those images and let them speak VOLUMES about Papa and his babies.

Oh my!!!, those fond memories. Roger, this is not good bye, it is merely a temporary separation. By God's Grace, we will see you in the morning.

Remembering Roger Hattaway Home going 3/6/13

Just a few moments in time of a GREAT guy. Roger was ALWAYS the life of every party and event. He could sell a glass of water to a drowning man.

Roger was a piece of work. He and my sister Brenda married very young. I don't remember the date, however; it was a long time ago.

There was never a dull moment when Tick was in the room. As I ponder times past, my mind goes back to our Mobile Home days. Our crew, including Roger, were at a sells center in Conway.

Dad and Ethell were in the office taking care of some business, the rest of us were hanging around on the outside deck talking. Ethell had an Elcomino, which was parked right in front of the deck in which we were hanging out on.

Roger, the intuitive one, noticed a guy checking out Ethell's Elcomino. He, Roger, leans over to the rest of us and says, "watch this".

He walks out to the guy and ask, "how do you like the Elcomino?" The guy replies,"very nice!!" By the way, Ethell left the key in the ignition. Roger asked if the guy wanted to take it for a spin. So, of course, down the road they go...

After a nice ten or fifteen minute drive, Roger, the Elcomino and the potential buyer, comes riding back up. Low and behold Ethell walks out onto the front deck and says, "that looks like my truck coming up."

We were cracking up at this point. As the dust settles from the test drive, Salesmen Roger and the would be new owner of Ethell's Elcomino get out and walk around, taking one more look, we hear Roger say with a laugh, "I can't sell this truck to you, it is not mine. As he turns, pointing at Ethell, "it belongs to that man." Everyone just laughed and laughed.

I am the better person today for knowing Roger and am truly honored of having Tick as my brother-in-law. "Sure am going to miss you, Tick!!" Thank God, I'll see you on the other side.

President Bush 43 & Barney

Cathy found these moments in time of my favorite President, President George W. Bush and Barney.
